The Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge in Dorchester County offers fishing in brackish tidal marshes and impoundments. Chain pickerel and largemouth bass in the shallow backwaters; northern snakehead is abundant and actively targeted.
Federal Wildlife Refuge — a Federal Duck Stamp or $5 day-use fee required. Fishing allowed in designated areas only. Check USFWS Blackwater NWR website for current fishing access rules. Snakehead must not be released alive.
